Raised Floor Grommets

IT equipment is generating more heat than ever, and the cost to cool that equipment is increasing. According to the Uptime Institute, Inc.™, electricity consumed by IT equipment is the primary driver of data center infrastructure costs. Based on measurements at multiple data centers, 50-80% of valuable conditioned air is not reaching the air intake of IT equipment due to unsealed cable openings. This lost air, known as bypass airflow, contributes to equipment hot spots, cooling unit inefficiencies and increased infrastructure costs. Sealing cable and hose openings is an essential component of IT equipment reliability and availability.
KoldLok raised-floor grommets
By installing KoldLok raised-floor grommets, you can optimize the effectiveness of your existing cooling equipment and manage the increasing heat loads. The patented KoldLok sealing system specifically addresses bypass airflow and its detrimental effects on data center cooling.

When installing the Coolcentric data center cooling solution, it is recommended that grommets be installed where the supply and return hoses penetrate the raised floor tile – at both the Rear Door Heat Exchanger and the Coolant Distribution Unit. With several different designs available in the KoldLok grommet product line, the user can be assured that these grommets can be deployed in virtually any environment.

Raised Floor Grommets Benefits:

  • Optimize your current cooling infrastructure
  • Increase existing cooling unit capacity, possibly reducing the need to purchase additional cooling units
  • Improve equipment reliability and extend equipment life
  • Increase static pressure under the raised floor and improve cool air delivery through perforated tiles or floor grates
  • Mitigate equipment heat loads
  • Install quickly and easily
  • Made with fire-rated resin and filaments that meet UL94 V0 standards
  • With >25,000 filaments per grommet you can realize 92-100% seal
  • The static-dissipation feature integrates with the raised floor static dissipation system, providing 1 GigaOhm of resistance
  • Impact-resistant and durable
  • Contains no loose or partially fastened parts that can become separated or fall through the raised floor
  • Satisfies NFPA 75 Section 5-4.4 requirement by self-dressing the raw metal edges of raised-floor tile cable openings
  • Compliant with the directive that restricts the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (RoHS)

Raised Floor Grommet Deployment

Raised floor grommets can be deployed along with Coolcentric RDHx systems.
