Blanking Panels

Blanking panels are critical to the effective operation of the LiquiCool® Rear Door Heat Exchanger (RDHx). By sealing the front open-U spaces in an enclosure, the cold supply air is isolated from the hot exhaust air ejected by the rack-mount devices. Blanking panels prevent the hot exhaust air from recirculating to the front of the enclosure, where it could contaminate the cold supply air and raise the operating temperature of the rack-mount devices. Conversely, blanking panels prevent cold supply air from bypassing the intake vents of the rack-mount devices and escaping into the rear of the enclosure, into the hot aisle or through the RDHx. Using blanking panels ensures that the majority of hot exhaust air is routed through the RDHx, where it can be neutralized.

CoolcentricTM offers the HotLok series of blanking panels. These panels are made of lightweight plastic to lower shipping costs and make them easier to handle. The panels are RoHS- and UL-certified, and both the panels and shipping package are recyclable. The panels are engineered to provide the most effective seal available for optimized cooling capacity within the enclosure. Designed with inboard ergonomic finger grips, the panels are easy to install quickly, and installation doesn't require tools – which saves on labor costs. The panels are designed to be stackable, so they can be kept on hand in a particulate-free storage environment.

Blanking Panel Deployment

LiquiCool blanking panels are offered in a variety of configurations. Panels are available in 1U or 2U high increments to provide maximum configuration flexibility. Because the mounting method depends on the enclosure, the panels can be attached without tools to 9.5mm square mounting holes or M6/12-24 round mounting holes. A version of panels also is available with a temperature strip that provides visual readout of the temperature at the front of the enclosure.
